Abstract
Article on the interrelation between effect algebras, which play a role in quantum physics, and BL-algebras, the algebraic counterpart of Hájek's Basic Fuzzy Logic. In particular, weak effect algebras are introduced; any BL-algebra can be understood as a weak effect algebra. For a subclass of the weak effect algebras, a structure theory is developed, generalizing and simplifying the analysis of BL-algebras
